    • hi jennykerr, ottobre patterns are from finland. although they specialised in kids clothes from baby up to teens, they also have women's wear as well. i have at least 10 kids issues n 4 womens! :) i think they are worth it as it has so many patterns in there for the price u pay for it. :)

check out my blog to see what i've sewn : http://stitchbystitch.mistyeiz.com [stitchbystitch.mistyeiz.com]

most of the things i sew for my girls are otto patterns. :)

    • Hello JennyKerr, you can often pick up Ottobre mags on Ebay which is what I have done. I haven't made anything from them yet, but did buy a 12 month subscription so hopefully the motivation will follow

    • Hi, I have just joined your group. I have been sewing for many years, I like to do children's clothes, toys, machine embroidery and knitting. I have just finished a quilt for my grandson (he's 2) he loves Mickey Mouse.
I will try to upload a photograph of the quilt. (I'm not very good with photos lol)
      Happy sewing

    • How did you go with the sheets? If you're a beginner sewer then 100% cotton woven fabric such as poplin is good for making your daughter's sheets. When you're sewing for children there is a lot of warnings about certain materials and fire danger. When I first studied textiles, I learned that polyesters and other synthetic fabrics melt and stick to the skin which can cause more damage than a burn from cotton, wool and other natural fibers that burn but don't melt to the skin. Having just had a baby, I have been presented with the latest in warnings about using flannelette which is a %100 cotton material that catch on fire easily (you may even see these warnings on paper patterns). Material made from natural fibers such as wool cotton and linen don't pill and they absorb moisture well, keeping your little one comfortable. Synthetic Materials (especially polar fleece) don't absorb moister and can make your little one sweaty and uncomfortable, plus polyester poplin sheets pill terribly.

    • Hi everyone! I'm new to here and am interested in all things to do with sewing and craft since I was just a toddler watching my mother sew. Would like to share my sewing and craft ideas with everyone who has a passion for all things crafty! I love anything from sewing to quilting (started last year and made lap quilts as heirlooms for all family members!), bagmaking and dollmaking. I have worked in the fashion industry for over 10yrs & make my own patterns and clothes. Will try to put up some pics of my work up soon (once I have free time from my 13month old daughter!) :)
