A gift with punch

By Spotlight

Gift voucher swipe cards are all the rage but are not the easiest gift to dress up. Here we’ve created a way to display & present the card. And we’ve turned a favourite punch it into a handy foam stamp.
Final Result
Materials
• A4 lime green textured cardstock
• 30cm x 30cm bright orange textured cardstock
• small piece co-ordinating striped cardstock
• 1 x sheet lime green craft foam
• 1 x sheet of transparency film
• blue button
• 15cm string
• small white eyelet
• large flower punch
• large, medium & small circle punches
• small hole punch
• small piece ****** sandpaper
• white paint & paint brush
• adhesives
• acrylic stamp block
• paper trimmer
• scissors
• sewing machine (optional)
• computer and printer (optional)
Step 1
Punch one green foam flower for the card and one extra foam flower for a stamp using the large flower punch. Punch one flower from a sheet of acrylic transparency paper and one small circle and one medium size circle from the striped cardstock.
Step 2
Cut a 30 x 15cm sheet of orange textured cardstock. Punch a large semi circle from the middle of one of the short edges. Cut a 12 x 12 cm square of lime green cardstock. Affix one foam flower to the acrylic block using temporary adhesive. Paint the foam “flower stamp” with white paint and stamp the flower onto the orange card a number of times - repaint the stamp between impressions. Paint one side of the transparent flower with white paint. Brush a sparing amount of paint on the second foam flower and around the edges of the punched circles. Brush a sparing amount of paint around the edges (back and front) of the large orange card and the green card.
Step 3
Use the computer to type a greeting and print onto the striped paper. Alternately, use rub-on letters for the greeting. Distress the printed text with sandpaper. Trim the striped paper to the same width as the orange card. Edge the paper with white paint. Fold the orange card in half, sew on striped card using a zigzag stitch - use the image as a guide for placement.
Step 4
Zigzag stitch along the two sides of the orange card to form a pocket. Affix the button to the foam flower by using a piece of string knotted through both objects. Adhere the flower to the pocket envelope.
Step 5
Punch a small hole through the small circle, painted transparent flower and medium circle. Assemble the shapes and affix to the top edge of the green card using a small eyelet. Cut angled lines in the green card to hold your gift card. Place the green card inside the orange pocket.
Handy Hint
Almost any of your favourite punches can be turned into a fun stamp if you have a sheet of craft foam handy. To make a stamp that will last, punch the shape twice from foam and glue the shapes together. Mount this onto a square made from two or three sheets of foam glued into a stack.
