Materials

• yarn - in colours of choice
• strong cardboard
• scissors

Step 1

Cut cardboard 15cm x 15cm. Make 1cm cuts evenly into the top edge, then the same on bottom edge. Wrap a thin yarn around the cardboard from top to bottom working from one side to the other.

Step 2

Using a different yarn, start at the top right and weave over then under the yarn strings from step 1. Go around the end string then weave in opposite direction.

Step 3

Continue weaving. To change colour, tie another yarn at the end of the first and continue. Weave until you reach the bottom. Cut the yarn that was tied around the cardboard at the back, tie off at each end of the weaving and trim the yarn ends.
