Completely clean critters

Use your basic sewing skills to create these cute & clean wash mitt critters. They’re great for bathtime at home but also come in handy as gifts & party favours.

Materials

• 2 face washers or 1 hand towel (per mitt)
• washable felt scraps - pink & green, black & white
• matching sewing threads
• scissors
• pins
• sewing machine
• paper & pencil
• washable fabric glue (optional)

Step 1

Use pencil and paper to make a pattern from the animal mitt shape supplied. Cut two of these shapes, either one from each face washer or both from a hand towel.

Step 2

PIG
From the pattern supplied for the PIG cut out 2 x ears, 1x snout and 2 x feet from pink felt and from black felt cut small circles for nostrils and 2 small ovals for eyes. From the pattern supplied for the FROG cut out 2 x feet, 2 x eyes and a 13cm x 3mm wide strip from green felt. Cut 2 small semi circles for nostrils and 2 small circles for eyeballs from black felt. From the white felt cut 2 large circles for eyes.

Step 3

FROG
Topstitch eyes and feet - 3mm from all edges in a slightly lighter colour than the colour of the felt. Place narrow green felt strip onto one of the frog shapes across centre of face and topstitch in place. Glue or stitch nostrils to frog’s face and white eyes and black eyeballs to green felt eyes. To hem the bottom edge of each body shape, fold up 1cm then another cm and stitch in place. Pin feet to the inside of the bottom edge of the front of the frog and stitch in place sewing over hemline stitching. Pin the two frog shapes together matching bottom edges. Place eyes at the top of the frog’s head placing between the two frog shapes. Sew body shapes together 5mm from edge. Ensuring eyes are also sewn in the seam. Bind side edges together using a short wide zigzag stitch.
