Materials

• plain lined bag (white canvas)
• Franchville assorted brads
• Francheville ribbon brads
• Francheville ribbon pack
• Francheville coloured safety pins
• Francheville fabric covered brads
• Francheville buttons
• Zig textile markers - mixed colours
• medium blunt darning needle
• temporary marker
• medium sewing needle
• thick beading thread
• scissors

Step 1

Plan out the type of look you want and colours you want to use. Draw your design on paper or mark out your design on the bag with temporary marker (it can be washed off if you change your mind or make a mistake).

Step 2

When you’ve decided on your design, use a darning needle to make holes for the brads. Ensure brad prongs only go through the top layer of the bag so that the prongs are covered by the lining.

Step 3

Sew buttons on with beading thread. With textile markers draw pictures, write poems, friends’ names, symbols, imagination is your only limit!

Handy Hint

For this project we purchased a bag from an accessories store. You could sew your own bag using any fabric or design you desire to create a totally unique item.
