- Materials
- • 10 x 50g balls (or 5 x 100g) pure wool or acrylic yarn - MC
• 10 x 50g balls (or 5 x 100g) pure wool or acrylic yarn - C1
• 14 x 50g balls contrast colour fancy yarn (Jazz) - C2
• 4.00mm or 3.50mm crochet hook
• scissors, yarn needle - Step 1
- Foundation ring: Using MC make 6ch, join with sl st to 1st ch to form ring.
Rnd 1: 3ch, 2tr in ring, (1ch, 3tr in ring) 3 times, 1ch, sl st to top of 3-ch at beg.
Tip: Leave MC attached to work throughout. When adding a new colour or new yarn crochet over ends to secure them as this saves time trying to find the loose ends when finished. - Step 2
- Rnd 2: Add C1 and sl st across to first 1-ch sp. 3ch, 2tr, 1ch, 3tr into same 1-ch sp, (1ch, 3tr, 1ch, 3tr into next 1-ch sp) 3 times, 1ch, join with sl st to top of 3-ch at beg.
Tip: These two processes will be repeated throughout the rug. At the end of each round there will be the beginning of the round as either a treble set (3ch, 2tr) or a single chain that will form the last treble set of that round (3ch, 1tr, sl st into top of beg single chain). - Step 3
- Rnd 3: Sl st MC across to first sp to start rnd 3. 3tr into sp, then continue working 3tr in ea sp.
Remember to work same pattern on corners every time (3tr, 1ch, 3tr into same sp) makes the corner.
Continue changing colours every alternate round (MC, C1, MC, C1, MC, C1, MC) until round 21 is complete which should be back to MC. - Step 4
- Rnd 22: Commence the colour change pattern. This pattern is based on 10 rows and is repeated 3 times.* introduce new colour C2
Rnd 23: MC
Rnd 24: C2
Rnd 25: MC
