Here’s a fun project that gives any workspace an inspirational edge. Peg & pin your favourite design ideas, cards and inspirational sayings to the colourful ribbons that criss-cross this board.

Materials

• cork board
• black craft spray paint or black acrylic paint & foam paint brush
• selection of Ribtex ribbons
• 1 pkt coloured wooden mini pegs
• scissors
• pins
• glue

Step 1

Working in a well ventilated area, spray the board black, including the frame, and leave to dry. Alternatively paint board and frame using foam brush and black paint. Remove your ribbons from the cards and give them a light press with a cool iron to get rid of any kinks if needed.

Step 2

Place the ribbons across the board, crossing them over each other. Try various placements until you are happy with the way it looks then pin the ribbons to the board to prevent them from moving. Tuck one end of the ribbon under the frame of the board and add a dab of glue to hold it in position. Place a pin through the ribbon at this point and leave until the glue dries. Do the same at the opposite end of that ribbon.

Step 3

Continue in this way until the ends of all ribbons have been secured to the frame of the board. Allow the glue to dry for a few hours. Remove all the pins and clip a few coloured pegs to the ribbons. Now your board is ready to use. Attach favourite photos and inspirational cuttings to the board using the coloured pegs.

Use black and white ribbons for a sophisticated take on your design wall. This is useful in a kitchen to display newspaper recipe cuttings.

Spray board white and use soft pink ribbons to add a feminine touch for a girl’s room; the perfect spot for all those ‘girly’ notes and cards.
