Ribbon lampshade
By Spotlight
- Here’s an ‘illuminating’ idea to consider next time you think a room needs a little pick-me-up!
- Final Result

- Materials
- • lampshade & base (12cm diameter cylinder shade x 18cm high)
• 15m in total of assorted 10mm wide ribbons
• tape measure/ruler
• scissors
• optional - fabric glue - Step 1
- Cut ribbons into 55cm lengths. To calculate ribbon lengths for a different shade, measure height of shade, double it and add 20cm.
- Step 2
- Thread ribbon through inside of lampshade, one at a time, tying the ends together in a knot at base of the shade.
- Step 3
- Leaving a 5mm gap between each ribbon, continue tying ribbons working around the whole lampshade. Trim ends of ribbons on an angle to prevent fraying.
- Handy Hint
- Ribbon knots can be secured to lampshade with a dab of fabric glue if desired.
