Snug style choker

By Spotlight

The origins of the choker may go back to the days where women wore a ribbon around their neck. Our version is a tad more glam!
Final Result
Materials
• 1 x 20g ball Excel metallic yarn
• 4.00mm crochet hook
• dangling ornament/charm
• 1 toggle clasp
Step 1
Thread hanging bead onto yarn before starting.
Step 2
Leave a tail of at least 20cm to sew on clasp and with 4mm hook work 72ch, placing a marker in the 36th ch to mark the centre.
Step 3
Row 1: 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in ea of next 33 ch, 2dc in next ch, 1dc in centre marked ch, 2dc in next ch, 1dc in ea ch to end. Turn. Row 2: 1dc in ea of next 36 dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in centre marked dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in ea ch to end. Turn. Row 3–5: Work rows in pattern established, remembering to work 2dc in the st on ea side of centre marked st. Row 6: 1dc in ea st to marked st, 1dc in centre st, bring up bead and 1dc in same st, 1dc in ea st to end. Fasten off leaving a 20-cm tail to sew on clasp.
Step 4
Take tail and run a gathering thread through all six rows, pull slightly to gather the end into a reverse fan. Thread the needle through the loop of one side of the toggle clasp, and attach to apex of fan, stitch into place firmly before finishing off and sewing in the ends. Repeat for other side of clasp ensuring the toggle bar is a little bit slacker to make it easier to go through the circle, but not too loose.
