- Materials
- • 3 different patterned cotton fabric (flat fat quarters)
• heavy interfacing
• scissors
• sewing machine
• iron
• pins - Step 1
- Cut a piece of fabric for the outside of the wallet to measure 19cm x 14cm. Cut another the same size for the inside and one more out of the interfacing. Cut two pockets 15cm x 14 cm. Fold the pockets in half wrong sides together and press with the hot iron.
- Step 2
- Stack all of the pieces starting with the outside fabric right side down then the interfacing then the inside fabric right side up then the pockets at both ends. If desired cut the corners round at this point (optional). Create a divided pocket on one side of the wallet by sewing a line of stitches down the center of one of the pockets and the inside fabric then return this to the stack as before. (also optional).
- Step 3
- Pin the stack together and machine stitch all around the outside approximately half a cm from the edge. Cut 3 cm strips from the remaining inside fabric and press in half lengthways, join strips together to reach approximately 70 cm. Starting on the inside of the wallet sew the strip with the right sides and raw edges together along the same line of stitching as before all around the edge. Once you get to the starting point cut excess strip leaving about 1.5cm tail fold the raw edge of the tail under and finish stitching. Press the other raw edge over about .5cm and fold around the edge of the wallet to the outside and top stitch in place through all layers.
