Sewing machine with walking foot - Step 1
- From the front fabric, cut 2 squares 22cm x 22cm. From the back fabric cut a rectangle 32cm x 20cm wide with the design running lengthways. Cut 1 x 22cm square from both the Insul-Bright wadding and the cotton batting.
- Step 2
- With one front fabric square face down (this will be the outside), place Insul-Bright square on top, then square of cotton wadding followed by the remaining front fabric square face up. Pin the layers together.
- Step 3
- Attach the walking foot to the sewing machine and stitch (quilt) through all layers. Trim to 20cm square. With outside facing, cut a slight curve on three of the four corners leaving top right corner square.
- Step 4
- Sew all layers together, 5mm in from all raw edges. Fold the back fabric in half and press. With the outside face down and corner that has not been curved in the top left, pin the folded fabric piece on top, aligning sides and bottom raw edges. Trim the corners of folded fabric to match curves in corners.
- Step 5
- Starting from the corner that has not been curved, and working clockwise, bind together the raw edges of all layers, coming back up to the non curved corner make a loop with binding and secure to corner by turning under raw edge and securely topstitching in place.
- Step 6
- Make a second mitt.
