Bucket liner

Final Result

Materials

• 1.5m of 112cm Drill
• Thread (colour of choice)
• Scissors and pins
• Tape measure / Ruler
• Sewing Machine
• Marker pen or pencilbucket liner

Step 1

Cutting
Cut the following pieces from your fabric:

Main Body (2 pieces) 45cm x 49cm. On each 45cm side, measure 23cm down from top edge on each side and make a 2cm cut.

Pocket (2 pieces) 60cm x 16cm.

Ties (2 pieces) 80cm x 6cm.

Tie Casing (2 pieces) 43cm x 6cm.

Base (1 piece) 23cm diameter circle

Step 2

Main body

Take both 'A' main body pieces and using a 2cm seam allowance, sew both 23cm side seams. This will make a tube with a 22cm split on each side.

Turn and press 1cm in on all four 22cm edges.

Stitch a close zigzag at base of opening for extra strength.

Step 3

Pocket

Press and sew a 1cm seam allowance along one long edge of both 'B' pocket pieces.

Sew a gathering stitch on the other edge of both pocket pieces: one 30cm long from the left, and one 15cm long from the right.

Step 4

Ties

Fold each 'C' tie piece lengthways towards the centre and press.

Fold again and topstitch down each side.

To stop ends fraying use a small drop of Birch Fray Stop.

Step 5

Attaching pocket to main body

Press a 1cm seam on each side of each pocket piece. Pin in place and gather threads to fit the width of centre tube.

Stitch together with a 1cm seam allowance.

Sew down each side then divide and stitch down making pockets.

Stitch 3 rows down centre of non-gathered section making pen or paintbrush pockets (as shown below).

Step 6

Tie casings

Press a 1cm hem along long edge of both 'D' tie casing pieces and then a 1cm hem on each side.

Pin face down on the wrong side of pocket and stitch a 1cm seam allowance.

Press over to right side of pocket front then pin and top stitch in place leaving sides open for ties to be threaded through.

Step 7

Attaching base

Set in the circle base and sew with a 1cm seam allowance.
