• Hooks (12mm) from a pack of hooks and eyes (you’ll need 25 hooks)
• 4 Buttons

• Pliers – you may need to open the hook up a little more - Step 1

1. Press interfacing to the reverse side of the front of the advent calendar (the images)*
2. Now cut the calendar

- Step 2
- Piecing the calendar front
Pin the front of the calendar to the backing fabric with right sides together. Sew these pieces together on three sides leaving the top unstitched. Turn right side out and press
- Step 3
- With reverse sides together sew the number panel to the backing fabric.

- Step 4
- Topstitch within 1cm around each number square

- Step 5
- Fold the 4 (6cm x 24cm) strips cut earlier in half so the strips become 4 6cm x 12cm pieces. Stitch down each side of the strips with a 1.5cm seam allowance and turn right way out.
Press and put to the side - Step 6
- Now that the number panel has been stitched, use the pinking shears and cut around each square as close to the stitch line as possible being careful not to cut the stitch

- Step 7
- Following the manufacturer’s instructions apply an eyelet to every number square

- Step 8
- Stitch a hook above every image on the calendar panel. First place a number over the image to determine where the hook should be placed

- Step 9
- Space the tabs across the top the calendar on the front panel evenly. Baste stitch the open end only of these tabs down. Fold in the top of the two pieces of the calendar towards each other to encase the tabs. Topstitch all around the calendar leaving a 1cm seam allowance

- Step 10
- Turn down the tabs and attach to the calendar with a few stitches and a button. Hang with a piece of dowel or a rod and attach all the numbers in any order you like. Remove a number a day up until Christmas
