By Spotlight

Dress up your kitchen this Christmas with this fun sewing project. There is a whole set under Christmas kitchen - Merry Christmas Collection!
Final Result
Materials
• 20cm Christmas fabric (‘Tis the Season’ stripe)
• 20cm green homespun
• 40cm x 20cm of iron-on pellon or cotton batting
• 2m x 25mm wide red bias binding
• 40cm white rickrack
• 40cm red rickrack
• sewing machine
• sewing thread
• scissors
• tape measure/ruler
• pins
• iron
Step 1
From the Christmas stripe fabric, cut the following - 2 squares 20cm x 20cm and 2 rectangles 32cm x 20cm wide (stripes widthwise). From the green homespun and iron-on pellon (cotton batting) cut 2 x 20cm squares. Fuse the pellon to the wrong side of the 2 x 20cm squares of Christmas stripe and pin the wrong side of the plain green fabric on top of the pellon (cotton batting). Cut a slight curve on three of the four corners.
Step 2
Sew all layers together, 5mm in from all raw edges. If desired, quilt through all layers following the lines in the striped fabric. Press the remaining striped fabric pieces in half to 16cm x 20cm. Cut rickrack into 20cm lengths and topstitch on top of folded fabric along two of the stripes on the front. With the corner that has not been curved in the top left, pin the folded fabric piece on top of the green fabric aligning bottom raw edges. Trim the corners of folded fabric to match curves in corners. Starting from the corner that has not been curved, and working clockwise, bind together the raw edges of all layers, coming back up to the non curved corner and making a loop with binding and securing to corner, by turning under raw edge and securely topstitching in place. Make a second matching mitt.
