Classical Black & White Stripe Quilt

Create this classical black & white quilt in several simple steps.
Final Result
Materials
Fabric Rolls are collections of 2 1/2" x 42" strips of fabric. Each roll contains 25 strips of 100% cotton fabric in 6 coordinating designs.
• 1 or 2* fabric rolls – black/white spot fabric
• 1.8m black homespun for backing & binding
• 1m x 1.4m Sew Easy cotton/bamboo batting
• Matching Gutermann 100% cotton thread
• Rotary cutter, mat & quilters rulers
• Quilting pins, tape measure
• Scissors, seam ripper
• Hand needle
• Iron
• Sewing machine with 1/4" foot & walking foot
*2 for a larger quilt

All fabrics should be 100% cotton, washed & pressed.
*To wash the fabric rolls, undo roll, open out strips and place loosely in a lingerie bag. Hand wash & line dry. Do not tumble dry.
1/4" seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated.
Read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.

Read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.
Step 1
Cut 5 x 2 1/2" strips from black homespun for binding. Sort the fabric roll strips into the six designs.
Step 2
Select 10 strips, a mix of light and dark fabrics, and lay them side by side in order ready to sew.
Step 3
Take the first 2 strips and with right sides facing move the top strip down 2", i.e. offset the 2nd strip 2", see diagram 1. Sew together down one long side. Open out and press.
Step 4
Offset next strip by 2" and sew to step 3, see diagram 2.
Step 5
Continue adding strips, offsetting each by 2" until all 10 strips are joined together, diagram 3.
Step 6
Cut remaining strips in half and add half of each strip to step 5 again offsetting strips by 2", diagram 4.
Step 7
Select another 10 strips and repeat steps 2-6 offsetting strips in opposite direction, diagram 5.
Step 8
Sew the two sections together along the long edges, diagram 6. Press all seams in one direction.
Step 9
Trim the top along the offset edges first, square up and trim the remaining sides to create the quilt top, diagram 7.
Step 10
Layer backing, batting and quilt top together and baste, quilt as desired.
Step 11
Join 5 x 2 1/2" binding strips to make one long strip. Press in half lengthwise and bind mitering corners. Attach a label or sign and date your quilt.
