Crochet fruity bags - strawberry

Crochet lovers beware! Once you start making these bags, everyone will want one.

Materials

• 1 x 50g ball 8ply pure wool - hot pink
• 1 x 50g ball 8 ply pure wool - green
• 6.00mm crochet hook
• scissors, yarn needle

Step 1

Using hot pink wool make 2ch, 6dc into 2nd ch from hook, sl st to 1st dc.
Rnd 1: 2dc in each dc [12 dc].
Rnd 2: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in next dc) 6 times [18 dc].
Rnd 3: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc
in each of next 2 dc) 6 times [24 dc].
Rnd 4: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 3 dc) 6 times [30 dc].
Rnd 5-8: 1dc in each st [30 dc].
Rnd 9: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 4 dc) 6 times [36 dc].
Rnd 10-11: 1dc in each st [36 dc].
Rnd 12: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 5 dc) 6 times [42 dc].
Rnd 13-14: 1dc in each st [42 dc].
Rnd 15: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 6 dc) 6 times [48 dc].
Rnd 16-17: 1dc in each st [48 dc].
Rnd 18: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 7 dc) 6 times [54 dc].
Rnd 19-20: 1dc in each st [52 dc].
Rnd 21: (2dc in 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 8 dc) 6 times [60 dc].
Rnd 22-27: 1dc in each st [60 dc].
Rnd 28: (dec over next 2 sts, 1dc in each of next 8 dc) 6 times [54 dc].
Rnd 29: 1dc in each st [54 dc].
Rnd 30: (dec over next 2 sts, 1dc in each of next 7 dc) 6 times [48 dc].
Rnd 31: (dec over next 2 sts, 1dc in each of next 6 dc) 6 times [42 dc].
Rnd 32: (dec over next 2 sts, 1dc in each of next 5 dc) 6 times [36 dc].
Rnd 33: Change to green wool, 2ch, 1htr in each dc, sl st to 2nd ch of starting ch [36 htr].
Rnd 34-35: 2ch in same st as sl st, 1htr in each htr, sl st to 2nd ch of starting ch.
Rnd 36: 3ch in same st as sl st, (sk 1htr, 1htr in next htr, 1ch), rep to last st, sl st to 2nd ch of starting ch.
Rnd 37: 1ch, 1dc in same st as sl st, 1dc in each st, sl st to 1st dc.

Fasten off.

Step 2

Leaves
Step 1: Turn bag with green facing you, and right side out.

Join green wool with sl st around front post of row 33 (where green meets pink), 2ch in same st as sl st, (1dc around front post of next dc, 1ch), rep to last st, sl st to 1st ch of starting ch, sl st into 1st 1-ch sp.

Step 2: 2ch, 1htr in same st as sl st, (1htr in each of next 2 1-ch sps, 2htr in next 1-ch sp), rep to end, sl st to 2nd ch of starting ch [48 htr].

Step 3: 2ch, 1htr in next and every htr, sl st to 2nd ch of starting ch [48 htr].

Step 4: 1ch, 1dc in same st as sl st, 1dc in each of next 7 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 7 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 6 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 5 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 4 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 3 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in each of next 2 dc, turn. 1ch, sk 1st dc, 1dc in next dc, fasten off.

Sl st into dc next to first leaf, repeat Step 4 instructions five more times. Sew in ends.

Step 3

Make two cords approx 600mm long. Thread one cord through loops around the bag and join in circle, then thread the other cord from the opposite side of bag and join in circle.

Now when both cords are pulled the bag closes and the cords become the handles.
