Cuddles koala

By Spotlight

This cute koala will be perfect for a puppet show!
Final Result
Materials
• 2 felt squares
• scrap of black felt
• 2 x 15 mm black safety eyes
• black pearl thread
• large chenille needle
• 30cm ribbon
• 1 small safety pin
• 2 large safety pins
• black felt tipped pen
• scissors
• pliers
• hobby fill - for toy option
Step 1
Draw the shape of a koala onto the felt using the black marker and cut out 2 shapes. Attach the front and back of the koala together using the two large safety pins. Cut out a nose from the black felt and pin onto the face.
Step 2
Sew the nose onto the face using a running stitch. Attach the eyes (the poles at the rear of the eyes can be cut with pliers).
Step 3
Sew the front and back together using blanket stitch. Leave the base of the koala open if you are making a hand puppet. For a toy leave a 5cm opening in the side and fill with stuffing until the koala is a nice firm shape. Stitch the opening closed. Finish by tying the ribbon around the neck as a tie.
