Transform your ordinary glassware into a spectacular table setting that is durable and dishwasher safe.

Materials

• sturdy table glassware
• fine tip indelible felt tip marker
• Vitrea 160 thinner
• very fine paint brush for detail
• broad wash brush
• Vitrea 160 Outliner - Pearl
• Vitrea 160 Gloss Colours: BENGAL PINK, INDIAN RED, AMBER BROWN, AMARANTHINE

Step 1

Preparation

Degrease the glassware by washing it using soapy water.

Before starting, plan your design by drawing it on a piece of paper that fits inside the glass.

Mix the colours and adjust the consistency using thinners if you need to.

It’s a good idea to test colours on a spare glass if available.

Step 2

Template

Slide your design pattern inside the container and trace onto the glassware using a light coloured water based marker.

Apply the minimum amount required to see the outlines.

Step 3

Colouring

Apply Vitrea 160 colours. If the bottle or jar is to be coloured all over and therefore difficult to handle, do your design in sections and allow each colour to dry for 30 minutes.

Use a broad wash brush to apply large areas of colour and the fine brush for more delicate areas.

After 30 minutes, use the Pearl outliner tube to highlight some of the shapes of your design - you can apply directly from the tube.

Step 4

Finishing

When the pattern is finished, allow to dry for 24 hours at room temperature, then put in a cold oven.

Preheat the temperature at 160°C (325°F). Bake for 40 minutes then open the door and allow to cool.

After baking the depth of the colour is enhanced and the paints are dishwasher safe.

Step 5

Clean Up

Wash all brushes clean in luke warm soapy water.
