- • 1 x 50g ball 'Bella Baby' Honey 4ply
• Set of 4 double-pointed 3.75mm knitting needles
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
• 2 x small buttons
Size 0-3 months 3-6 months
Length 8.5cm 10cm - Step 1
- LEFT BOOTIE
Sole
Using 2 needles, cast on 7 (9) sts.
Work 24 (28) rows of stocking st, cut yarn and leave sts on needle.
Sides
Note: Working with 3 needles, halve the sts over 2 needles and knit with the 3rd.
Row 1: Cast on 4 (5) sts, then with the RS of stocking st facing, working from the cast on edge, knit up 14 (15) sts along the side of the sole, knit across 7 (9) st from the sole, knit up 14 (15) sts down along the other side of the sole.
Turn and cast on 4 (5) sts... 43 (49)sts.
Row 2: (K1, P1) to end.
Row 3: (K1, P1) to end
These 2 rows form the Moss stitch
patt.
Work 7 rows in total. Cut yarn. - Step 2
- Shape Instep
Row 1: Slip first 17 (20) sts, K6, sl 1, K1, psso, turn.
Row 2: P6, P2tog, turn.
Row 3: K6, sl 1, K1, psso, turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3, 4 (5) more times.
Cast off 5 (7) sts knitwise, K2tog, pass previous st over.
Cast off 1 st. - Step 3
- Back
Slip 11 (13) sts from the end of the right needle onto another needle and continue to work across these sts as follows:
Moss st to end.
P2tog, Moss st to end, 21 (25) sts. **
Work a further 4 rows in Moss st.
Cast on 11(13) sts, starting with a K st, work 2 rows in Moss st, 33 (38) sts.
Buttonhole Row: K1, P1, ybk, P2tog, Moss st to end.
Work 1 row Moss st.
Cast off in Moss st patt. - Step 4
- RIGHT BOOTIE
Work as for Left to **.
Work a further 3 rows in Moss st.
Cast on 11(13) sts, starting with a K st, work 2 rows in Moss st, 33 (38) sts.
Buttonhole Row: K1, P1, ybk, P2tog, Moss st to end.
Work 1 row Moss st.
Cast off in Moss st patt. - Step 5
- FINISHING
Oversew back half seam, then across bottom, to attach the back to the sole.
Join Instep top to sides at beg of cast off to match opposite side.
