How to - Weave
By Spotlight
- Learn the basics of weaving as used on the project for woven square cushion cover (which you can view under the Decorator Cushions Collection)
- Final Result

- Materials
- • fabric strips in length & width desired
• pins
• optional - fray strips
Fray both long sides of all but 4 strips for the edges, fray only one long side of each. - Step 1
- Place a strip with a non-frayed edge down the left side and another overlapping the first across the top at right angles. Pin in the square where the 2 strips overlap.

- Step 2
- Place a 3rd strip below the last and underneath the first, pinning the two strips together where they overlap.

- Step 3
- Place another strip beside the first, on under the 2nd strip and over the 3rd strip, pinning through both layers in the overlap 'squares’.

- Step 4
- Place the next strip below the 3rd, over the first strip and under the 4th, pinning the two strips together where they overlap. Place a 6th strip beside the 4th, on top of the 2nd strip and under the 3rd strip, pinning through both layers in the overlap ‘squares’.

- Step 5
- Continue adding both horizontal and vertical strips keeping the pattern of weaving under and over. If using frayed fabric strips the last two strips should have a non-frayed edge at the bottom and right-hand edges.
