Jelly Bean Jungle Cot Quilt

- Materials
- Quilt measures: 37½” x 46½” (96cm x 118cm)
• 1 x jelly bean jungle panel
• 30cm jelly bean jungle scatter - yellow (border 1)
• 60cm jelly bean jungle birds - blue (border 2 & binding)
• 115cm x 140cm backing fabric
• 115cm x 140cm batting
• Matching Gutermann cotton thread
• Rotary cutter, mat and quilters ruler
• Quilting pins, tape measure
• Scissors, seam ripper
• Hand needle
• Basting spray or safety pins
• Sewing machine with ¼” foot and walking foot - Step 1
- CUTTING
All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.
Trim the jelly bean jungle panel to create a 1½” red border on all sides.
From yellow border 1 fabric cut 4 x 2½” strips.
From blue border 2 fabric cut 4 x 3” strips and 4 x 2¼” strips for the binding. - Step 2
- QUILT TOP
Remove selvedges from ends of strips. - Step 3
- Sew a yellow border strip to each side of the panel, trim off excess and press seams towards the border.
Sew the remaining yellow border strips to the top and bottom edges, trim and press seams towards border. - Step 4
- Sew a blue border strip to each side of the quilt top, trim off excess and press seams towards border.
Repeat, sewing remaining blue border strips to the top and bottom edges. - Step 5
- Layer backing, batting and quilt top and baste together.
- Step 6
- QUILTING
Quilt the panel outlining the large jungle animals for greater definition.
Quilt around the edge of the picture, then in the ditch on each side of the yellow border.
Alternatively quilt as desired. - Step 7
- BINDING
Trim off excess batting and backing fabric.
Join binding strips to make one long strip.
Press in half lengthwise, pin to the edge on the right side of the quilt and stitch.
Turn to the back and hand stitch.
Attach a label or sign and date your quilt. - Note
- All fabrics should be 100% cotton, washed& pressed. ¼” seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated. Read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.
