Knitted Christmas Baubles

- Create a keepsake album to hold memories of your Christmas traditions. These can be times you share with others or activities your family does together leading up to the merry day (decorating the tree, making cookies, Christmas Eve activities, cooking special Christmas recipes, drinks with the neighbours, wrapping gifts and so on).

- Materials
- • 1 x 50g ball ‘Moda Vera’ Tinka - red, green & white (enough to make 6 baubles)
• 1 pr 6.00mm Knitting Needles
• 6 Christmas decofoam balls
• Scissors
• Yarn needle for sewing - Step 1
- Pattern
Cast on 10 sts and work 2 rows of stocking st.
Shaping
Row 1: (K1, inc) to end 15 sts.
All even rows: Purl
Row 3: (Inc, K2) to end 20 sts.
Row 5: (K3, inc) to end 25 sts.
Row 7: (Inc, K4) to end 30 sts.
Row 9: (K5, inc) to end 35 sts.
Work 5 rows of stocking st, starting with a purl row.
Row 15: (K5, K2tog) to end 30 sts.
Row 17: (K2tog, K4) to end 25 sts.
Row 19: (K3, K2tog) to end 20 sts.
Row 21: (K2tog, K2) to end 15 sts.
Row 23: (K1, K2tog) to end 10 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Cut the yarn leaving a 20cm tail and thread through rem 10 sts. - Step 2
- Make up
Hold piece around decofoam ball with bound off edge at the base, tighten and blind stitch along the opening and tighten together, once at the top, thread the yarn in and out along the cast on edge, tighten then fasten off and neaten all loose ends. - Step 3
- Stripes can be added as follows:
Single large centre stripe - following pattern as above, work 8 rows of white, 10 rows of red, finish with 8 rows of white.
Small vertical or horizontal stripes following pattern, work 4 rows of alternating colours, ending with 2 rows in first colour.
Make up - for vertical stripe bind edges closed along top half of the decofoam ball. - Abbreviation
