Waist Shaping: (K3, K2tog) to last 3 sts, K3 … 27 sts.
Mrs Claus only - change to white.
Work 7 rows of stocking st.
Neck Shaping: K1, (K2tog) to end … 14 sts.
Mrs Claus knit 1 row;
Santa purl 1 row.
Change to flesh colour and work 2 rows.
Head Shaping:

Cut yarn leaving a 20cm tail.
Thread tail through rem sts and tighten.
Sew back seam of head and body to hem line, turn to right side and stuff, and sew closed.
Take thread up through body and tighten until it inverts to make a stable base for toy to stand.
Secure at the back of the neck (or top for tree) and neaten. - Step 4

Shoe Shaping:

Change to white and work 2 rows stocking st.
Change to green and work 4 rows of stocking st.
Hip Shaping:
K5, inc in next st, K12, inc in next st, K to end.
Purl 1 row.

ELVES
Pick up 23 sts along cast on edge of body in yarn to match.
Work 2 rows stocking st.
Shaping:
(P2tog, P1) to last 2 sts, P2tog … 15 sts.
Knit 1 row.
P2tog to last st, P1 … 8 sts.
Cut yarn leaving a 20cm tail. Thread tail through rem sts and tighten. Sew back seam of head and body to hem line, turn to right side and stuff, and sew closed.
Take thread up through body and tighten until it inverts to make a stable base for toy to stand. Secure at the back of the neck and neaten. Use matching yarn to shape legs, by threading yarn in and out in between sts. - Step 6

ELVES
Note: Use appropriate colours.
Work Elves’ stripes in 2 rows of alternating colours.
Cast on 8 sts in clothing colour and work 10 rows stocking st.
Change to contrast colour if required and work 2 rows garter st.
Change to flesh colour and work 4 rows stocking st.
Cut yarn leaving a 15cm tail. Thread tail through rem sts and tighten. Use this yarn to sew seam of arm and turn to the right side. Stuff and sew to body. - Step 7

SANTA
Cast on 8 sts using white and knit 1 row.
Next row: K1, inc in every st to last st, K1 ... 14 sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Shaping:
Dec 1 st at each end of every row until 4 sts rem.

Cast on 28 sts and knit 4 rows.
Shaping:
K2tog to end … 14 sts.
Cut yarn leaving a 15cm tail. Thread tail through rem sts and tighten. Use this yarn to sew back seam and secure around neck. - Step 11
- Hat
SNOWMAN
Cast on 28 sts using yellow and knit 3 rows.
Change to black, commence 2 row stripe pattern and work 6 rows stocking st.
Shape Top:
K2tog to end … 14 sts.
Purl 1 row.
K2tog to end … 7 sts.
Pom Pom Shaping:
Change to yellow, K1, inc in each of next 5 sts, K1 … 12 sts.
Knit 1 row.
Shaping:
P2tog to end … 6 sts.
Cut yarn leaving a 15cm tail. Thread tail through rem sts and tighten. Use this yarn to sew back seam. - Step 12
- Scarf
SNOWMAN
Cast on 4 sts in black and knit 2 rows. Do not cut yarn.
Change to yellow, knit 2 rows. Do not cut yarn.
Change back to black taking yarn up the edge and work 2 more rows.
Continue knitting 2 rows in each colour for a total of 66 rows. Cast off.
Add yellow fringe to each end. - Step 13

MRS CLAUS
Belt:
Using colour of choice cast on 29 sts and knit 2 rows.
Button Hole Row:
K1, yfwd, K2tog, K to end. Cast off knitwise and neaten ends.
Apron Top:
Pick up 7 sts in middle on one side, work 5 rows stocking st, cast off.
Apron Skirt:
Pick up 11 sts in middle on one side, work 11 rows stocking st, cast off.
Skirt Frill:
Using 3mm crochet hook and with the right side facing, draw up a loop on the skirt close to the pick up row.
7dc along side edge, 2dc in corner, 7dc along bottom edge, 2dc in corner, 7dc along other side, sl st into belt close to pick up st. Turn.
(1dc, 1tr, 1dc) into each dc, sl st into belt close to pick up st. Fasten off.
Top Frill:
With the right side facing, draw up a loop on the top close to the pick up row.
4dc along side edge, 18ch, 4dc along other side, sl st into belt close to pick up st. Turn.
(1dc, 1tr, 1dc) into each of next 4 dc and next 4 ch, 1dc into each of next 10 dc, (1dc, 1tr, 1dc) into each of next 4ch and next 4 dc, sl st into belt close to pick up st. Fasten off.
Attach small button to secure around waist. - Step 14

Using grey cast on 28 sts and work 8 rows stocking st.
Shape Crown:
K2tog to end … 14 sts.
Purl one row.
K2tog to end … 7 sts.

Bun:
inc in every st … 14 sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st.
K2tog to end … 7 sts.
Cut yarn leaving a 15cm tail. Thread tail through rem sts and tighten. Use this yarn to sew attach to head. - Step 15
- Christmas pudding
Using brown, cast on 24 sts and work 2 rows stocking st.
Purl 2 rows.
Work 4 rows stocking st.
Shaping:
K2tog to end … 12 sts. Purl one row.
K2tog to end … 6 sts. Purl one row.
Cast off.
Thread yarn through rem sts and tighten. Use this yarn to sew back seam, after base completed. Work base.
Pudding Base:
Pick up 18 sts evenly across cast on edge, work 3 rows stocking st.
Shaping:
K2tog to end … 9 sts. Cast off.
Sew back seam to cast on edge, turn right side out and stuff, continue sewing to close.
Take thread up through pudding and tighten until it inverts. Secure at the top and neaten.
Icing:
Using white cast on 7 sts, work 8 rows stocking st, cast off.
Leaves - make 2:
using green cast on 4 sts, work 2 rows garter st, cast off. Attach to icing and neaten ends.
Use red yarn to make berries using a french knot. - Step 16

Using tan or rust cast on 5 sts, work 2 rows stocking st.
Inc in each st to end knitwise … 10 sts.
Purl one row.
Inc in each st to end knitwise … 20 sts.
Work 17 rows stocking st.
Shape Neck:
K5, K2tog, turn, sl 1, P to end.
K5, K2tog, turn, sl 1, P to end.
K5, K2tog twice, K to end.
P5, P2tog, turn, sl 1, K to end.
P5, P2tog, turn, sl 1, K to end.
P5, P2tog twice, P to end.
Work 6 rows stocking st.
Shape Head:
K9, turn, sl 1, P5, turn.
Sl 1, K4, turn, sl 1, P3, turn.
Sl 1, K to end, P 1 row.

Turn right side out, stuff and sew closed.
Legs - make 4:
Using same colour as body cast on 8 sts, work 14 rows stocking st.
Change to chocolate, work 4 rows stocking st.
Cut yarn leaving a 15cm tail. Thread tail through rem sts and tighten. Fold in half with right sides facing and sew together along the side.Turn right side out and stuff. Attach to body and neaten ends.
Ears - make 2:
Using same colour as body cast on 5 sts, work 2 rows garter st and cast off.
Attach to head and neaten ends.
Use chocolate yarn to stitch eyes. - Step 17

White Baubles:
Using 3mm crochet hook *10ch, yoh, pull up a loop in 2nd ch from hook, (yoh, draw through 2 loops on hook) 4 times, yoh, draw through all loops on hook; rep from * 4 more times (makes 5 baubles), sl st in beg ch. Fasten off.
Loosely attach around tree near 2nd set of reverse stocking st.
Red Baubles:
As for white baubles but work 8ch instead of 10ch.
Attach around tree between 3rd and 4th set of reverse stocking st.
Yellow Baubles:
As for white baubles but work 6ch instead of 10ch.
Attach around tree near 5th set of reverse stocking st.
Orange Baubles:
As for white baubles but work 4ch instead of 10ch.
Attach around tree near 6th set of reverse stocking st.
Star:
Using yellow and 3mm crochet hook work 2ch, 5dc into 1st ch, sl st into first dc to form circle.
Round 2: (1dc, 1ch, 1dtr, 1ch, 1dc) into each dc (forms 5 points), sl st into 1st dc, fasten off. - Step 19
- SANTA SACK
Cast on 30 sts and work 24 rows stocking st.
Shaping:
K1, K2tog to last st, K1 … 16 sts.
Purl one row.
K1, inc in each of next 14 sts, K1 … 30 sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st. Cast off.
Patches - make 1 red, 1 green:
Cast on 7 sts, work 8 rows stocking st, cast off.
Sew to Sack with contrast thread using a running stitch.
Ties:
Using red, cast on 50 sts, knit 2 rows.
Change to green, knit 1 row, cast off knitwise. Neaten ends.
Stuff sack and tie off at shaping. - Step 20
- PRESENTS - make 1 orange, 1 yellow.
Using orange/yellow cast on 10 sts, work 6 rows of stocking st.
Cast on 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows … 18 sts.
Work a further 4 rows stocking st.

With right sides facing, over sew sides to form box shape, leaving one side open.
Turn right side out, stuff and sew closed.
Tie:
Using 3mm crochet hook work 100ch and fasten off. Tie around present. - Step 21

Using yarn needle, neaten all loose ends, finish all people by adding eyes, mouths and moustache where needed.
Use brown chenille sticks to make antlers for Rudolf and arms for Snowman, thread through work, ensuring an even amount on each side, bend to form shapes as shown in photo. - Abbreviation
