Materials

STRIPED JUMPER
• "Bella Baby" Layette 50g balls as per size chart
• 4 x buttons
• 1 pair 3.00mm knitting needles
• 1 pair 3.75mm knitting needles
• 3mm crochet hook
• 2 x stitch holders
• Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

PLAIN BUTTON BOOTIES
• 1 x 50g ball "Bella Baby" Layette
• 2 x buttons
• 1 pair 3.75mm knitting needles
• Scissors, yarn needle

JUGGLING BALLS
• 1 x 50g ball ea "Bella Baby" Layette in 7 colours
• 1 pair 3.75mm knitting needles
• Bells
• Scissors, yarn needle
• Hobby fill

Step 1

Tension
21 sts x 42 rows to 10cm over garter stitch using 3.75mm needles.

Striped pattern
2 rows each colour, changing colours on a wrong side row each time.

Step 2

STRIPED JUMPER Instructions

BACK
Using 3mm needles and MC, cast on 58 (64,70) sts.
Work 5 rows garter stitch.
Change to 3.75mm needles and commence striped pattern (WS).
Cont in garter st until work measures 13 (15,20)cm from the beg.

Add sleeves
Keeping patt correct, cast on 34 (36,38) sts at beg of next 2 rows 126 (136, 146) sts.** Cont without shaping for a further 11 (12, 14) cm from sleeve cast on.
Cast off 53 (56, 59) sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Work 8 rows of stocking st on rem 20(24, 28) sts.
Cast off all sts.

Step 3

FRONT
Work as for back to **.
Cont without shaping until work is 20 rows less than back.

Shape neck
Keeping patt correct as for back, K59 (63, 67), turn.
Dec 1 st at neck edge in alt rows until 52 (56,60) sts rem.
Cont without shaping until work measures same as back, ending with a wrong side row.
Cast off loosely.
Slip next 8 (10, 12) sts onto a stitch holder.
Rejoin yarn to rem sts and complete other side reversing shaping, ending with a RS row.
Cast off loosely.

Step 4

FRONT NECK BAND
With MC, knit up 10 sts along left side of neck, knit across sts from front stitch holder, knit up 10 sts along right side of neck, 28 (30, 32) sts Work 8 rows of stocking stitch.
Cast off loosely.

Step 5

MAKE UP
Using MC and back stitch, match stripes and join shoulder seams leaving a 3cm neck opening on each shoulder.
Using back stitch sew side and under sleeve seams.
Using crochet hook, work 1 row of dc evenly along shoulder openings.
Work a 2nd row of dc in ea dc, working 2, 2-ch buttonholes along front edge of ea opening (close to neckband & in centre).
Weave in loose ends. Sew buttons in place.

Step 6

LEFT BOOTIE Instructions

Cast on 27 sts.
Row 1: (K1, kfb, K10, kfb) twice, K1 (31 sts).
Row 2 & foll alt rows: Knit.
Row 3: (K1, kfb, K12, kfb) twice, K1(35 sts).
Row 5: (K1, kfb, K14, kfb) twice, K1(39 sts).
Row 7: (K1, kfb, K16, kfb) twice, K1(43 sts).
Row 9: (K1, kfb, K18, kfb) twice, K1(47 sts).
Row 11: (K1, kfb, K20, kfb) twice, K1(51 sts).
Row 12: K2tog, K to last 2 sts, K2 tog (49 sts).

Step 7

Knit 10 rows without shaping.

Shape top:
Row 1: K16, K2tog, (K3, K2tog) 3 times, K to end (45 sts).
Row 2 & 4: Knit
Row 3: K15, K2tog, K2, K2tog, K3, K2tog, K2, K2tog, K to end (41 sts).
Row 5: K14, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K3, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K to end (37 sts).

Button top:
K10, cast off next 7 sts, K3, cast off next 7 sts.
K10 to end, turn.**
Knit 3 rows on last 10 sts and cast off.
Cut yarn.

Rejoin yarn to middle 3 sts, work 16 rows,
Cast off. Cut yarn.

Cast on 14 sts, join to rem 10 sts and K to end.
Knit 1 row, turn.

Buttonhole row: K1, K2tog, yfwd, K to end.
Cast off.

Step 8

RIGHT BOOTIE
Work as for Left Bootie until **.
K10, cast on 14 sts. Knit 1 row, turn.

Buttonhole row: K to last 3 sts, yfwd, K2tog, K1.
Cast off.

Rejoin yarn to middle 3 sts, work 16 rows,
Cast off. Cut yarn.
Rejoin yarn to remaining 10 sts, knit 3 rows and cast off.
Cut yarn.

Step 9

Make Up
With right sides facing, and using back stitch, join back and sole of bootie, fold middle strap holder in half and stitch in place.

Weave in all loose ends and sew on button.

Optional
Add your own style with coloured stripes to match or contrast.

Step 10

JUGGLING BALLS Instructions
Make 12 in assorted colours
Cast on 3 sts.
Row 1: Knit to last st, kfb of the last st (4 sts).
Row 2: Purl to last st, pfb of the last st (5 sts).
Rep the last 2 rows until there are 19 sts.
Work 3 rows of stocking st.
Row 20: K2tog, knit to end.
Row 21: P2tog, purl to end.
Rep the last 2 rows until 2 sts rem.
Cast off.

Step 11

Make Up
With RS facing and points together pin four different colour pieces together. Sew together using back stitch, leaving a 4cm opening on one side.
Turn ball to right side. Stuff with Hobby fill and insert bells.
Blind stitch opening closed and conceal ends by threading into middle of ball.
Pull needle out and trim.
Continue to make 2 more balls.
