Project

Little Monster toy

By Megan42

These little toys don't take very long to knit and are a great way of using up yarn you have left over from other knitting projects.
Materials
1X50gram ball of yarn
4.5mm knitting needles
stuffing fibre or cotton wool
a sewing needle with a large eye
Two buttons
embroidery thread
Step 1
For the body (make 2)

cast on 20 stitches
knit 1 row
purl 1 row
Repeat the last two rows untill knitting measures 7.5cm.
Step 2
Knit 2, slip the first stich over the second one then knit to the last two stitches, knit 2 together.
next row- Purl to end.

Rep. the last two rows untill you have 12 stitches left.
Next row- Purl to end
Cast off
Step 3
For the Armas (make 2)
cast on five stitches

First row- Knit to end
Next row- Purl to end
Repeat these last two rows untill your knitting measures 7cm.
Cast off
Step 4
For the legs (make two)
Cast on 7 stitches
First row- Knit to end
Next row- Purl to end
Rep. last two rows untill your knitting measures 10cm.
cast off.
Step 5
Pin the two parts of the body with the right sides together. thread the yarn from casting on onto a sewing needle.

Sew all the way around the sides using back stitch. Leave the bottom edge open so that you have a gap for stuffing.

Turn the body inside out and stuff it with stuffing fibre or cotton wool. Then, sew over the bottom edge to close it.
Step 6
The edges of the arms would have rolled in, so they don't need to be stitched. Use little stitches to attach an arm to each side of the body.

As the legs are wider than the arms, sew their edges together with little stitches. Sew the legs onto the back of the body with the seams at the back.

Use embroidery thread to sew on two buttons for the eyes. You can also stitch little decorations on your monster.
