Materials

• ‘Moda Vera’ Marshmallow 50g balls as per size
• 1 pair 12.00mm Knitting Needles
• Large Button
• Scissors, Yarn Needle, Tape Measure

Step 1

TENSION
7 sts x 10 rows to 10cm over Stocking St using 12.00mm knitting needles. Note: Garment worked in Stocking St.

BACK
Cast on 50 (54, 60, 64) sts and work 6 rows of Stocking St beg with a knit row (RS).
Ending with a purl row.

Shaping
Dec 1 st each end of this and foll 6th rows until there are 40 (44, 48, 52) sts.
Cont without shaping until work measures 90cm from the beg.

Step 2

SHAPE ARMHOLES
Cast off 2 sts at the beg of the next 2 rows 36 (40, 44, 48) sts.
Dec 1 st at each end every row, 4 times in all 28 (32, 36, 40) sts.
Cont without shaping until work measures 110 (112, 114, 116)cm from beg, ending with RS facing.
Cast off loosely.

LEFT FRONT
Cast on 28 (30, 34, 36) sts, and work 6 rows of Stocking St beg with a knit row (RS) and ending with a purl row.

SHAPING
Dec 1 st at the beg of this and foll 6th rows until there are 23 (25, 28, 30) sts.
Cont without shaping until work measures 90cm from the beg.

SHAPE ARMHOLES
Cast off 2 sts at the beg of the next row.
Purl 1 row 21 (23, 26, 28) sts.
Dec 1 st at the beg of every row 4 times in all 17 (19, 22, 24) sts.

Step 3

SHAPE LAPEL
Row 1: K to the last 2 sts, inc by knitting into prev row of the next st, then into the st on the needle, K1.
Row 2: Purl 1 row.
Rep last 2 rows 3 more times 21 (23, 26, 28) sts.
Cont without shaping until work is 11 rows less than the back.

SHAPE NECK/SHOULDER
WS Cast off 8 (9, 11, 12) sts at the beg of the next row.
Next row: K to last 2 sts, K2tog.
Purl 1 row.
Rep last row 3 more times 9 (10, 11, 12) sts.
Cont without shaping until front measures same as back.
Ending with a P row.
Cast off.

Step 4

RIGHT FRONT
Cast on 28 (30, 34, 36) sts, and work 6 rows of Stocking St beg with a knit row (RS) and ending with a purl row.

SHAPING
Dec 1 st at the end of this and following 6th rows until there are 23 (25, 28, 30) sts.
Cont without shaping until work measures 90cm from the beg.

Step 5

SHAPE ARMHOLES
Work 1 row.
Cast off 2 sts at the beg of the next row 21 (23, 26, 28) sts.
Dec 1 st at the end of every row 4 times in all 17 (19, 22, 24) sts.

SHAPE LAPEL
Row 1: K1, inc by knitting into prev row of the next st, then into the st on the needle, K to end.
Row 2: Purl 1 row.
Rep last 2 rows 3 more times 21 (23, 26, 28) sts.
Cont without shaping until work is 12 rows less the back.

SHAPE NECK/SHOULDER
Cast off 8 (9, 11, 12) sts at the beg of the next row.
Next row: K2tog, K to end.
Purl 1 row.
Rep last row 3 more times 9 (10, 11, 12) sts.
Cont without shaping until front measures same as back, ending with a P row.
Cast off.

Step 6

SLEEVES - Make 2
Cast on 20 (20, 24, 24) sts.
Work 10 rows of Stocking st, as for back.
Inc at each end of the next and foll 4th row, until there are 30 (32, 34, 38) sts.
Cont straight until work measures 50cm from the beg, ending with a purl row.

SHAPE TOP
Cast off 2 sts at the beg of the next 2 rows 26 (28, 30, 34) sts.
Dec 1 st each end of this and every row 5 times in all 16 (18, 20, 24) sts.
Work 1 row.
Cast off 2 sts at the beg of the next 4 (4, 4, 6) rows 8 (10, 12, 12) sts rem.
Cast off.

Step 7

COLLAR
Sew shoulder seams of back and front pieces.
With wrong side facing, and beg at 4th (5th, 6th, 8th) st from the left lapel edge, knit up 10 (11, 13, 15) sts from left front shaping, 12 (14, 16, 18) sts for back, 10 (11, 13, 15) sts from right front shaping, end at the 4th (5th, 6th, 8th) st from the right lapel edge, 32 (36, 42, 48) sts.
Work 8 rows of Stocking St.
Cast off very loosely.

Step 8

MAKE UP
Sew side seams up to armhole cast off.
Sew sleeve seams, set in sleeve.
Weave in loose ends.
Sew button to front or alternatively use a brooch or shawl pin.
To make a button loop, use a large crochet hook and insert through front just above button level, draw up a loop of yarn and make 4ch.
Insert hook though front just below button level and fasten off.
Weave in loose ends.
