Mirror mobile

Materials

• Crystazzi 8mm round crystals
• Crystazzi 6mm cubes
• Crystazzi 4mm AB bicones in colours of choice
• 3 pkts x 12mm mirror jewels (gold/silver)
• non-stretch nylon beading thread
• gemstone glue
• scissors
• masking tape
• toothpicks

Step 1

Cut three or more lengths of non-stretch nylon beading thread between 70cm and 90cm or lengths desired.

Step 2

Tie a thick secure knot 1.5cm from one end of each length of thread; this is to stop the crystals sliding off the end. This is the bottom of the mobile.

Step 3

Working on one length of thread at a time, thread on one or more crystals and push them down to the knot, e.g.:

1. one round 8mm crystal
2. 4mm bicone/ 8mm round/ 4mm bicone
3. 4mm bicone/ 8mm round/ 4mm bicone/ 8mm round/ 4mm bicone.

Step 4

Leave 6-10cm and tie a knot. Thread on a sequence of crystals combining 8mm round crystals, 6mm crystal cubes and 4mm AB bicones in a range of colours to create a design.

Step 5

Repeat step 4 until approximately 20-30cm from the top of the thread and tie a knot. Turn the top 6-7cm over and tie a knot to form a loop for hanging.

Step 6

Place the beaded thread on a flat surface and tape across the loop to anchor down. Gently pull the thread out straight and tape across the bottom to hold in place. Arrange the mirrors along the thread in the spaces between the crystals.

Step 7

To secure the mirrors to the thread place one mirror face down centered under the thread. Using a toothpick apply a small dot of glue onto the back of the mirror and place another mirror on top face up. Press gently together aligning the edges. Leave for glue to dry.

Step 8

Repeat steps 3-7 for as many thread lengths as desired. When all glue is dry hang in the window for the crystals to catch the sunlight.
