- - 2 x 50g balls ‘Moda Vera’ Pure Wool 8ply
- 1 pair 4.00mm knitting needles
- Spare fine knitting needle
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

K1B = knit below - knit into centre of next st one row below, slipping both sts off needle tog;
P = purl; purl fabric (wrong side of stocking st)

Tension
22 sts x 44 rows to 10cm over fisherman’s rib, using 4.00mm needles. - Step 1
- Hat
Using 4.00mm needles, cast on 85 (97- 103-109) sts.
Row 1: Purl.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows 3 times (8 rows purl fabric in all). Work 8 rows stocking st, beg with a knit row.
Work 8 rows purl fabric, beg with a purl row.
With wrong side facing, using spare fine needle, pick up top loop of each st 8 rows below (last row of stocking st), place this needle at back of needle in use. 
- Step 2
- Row 25: Knit tog one st from each needle all across row ... 85 (97-103- 109) sts.
Work a further 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Row 29: Purl.
Beg Fisherman’s Rib Row 30: Knit.
Row 31: P1, * K1B, P1, rep from * to end.
Rep rows 30 & 31, 15 (17-18-19) times. - Step 3
- Shape Crown
Next Row: P1, * P2tog, rep from * to end ... 43 (49-52-55) sts.
Work 4 rows stocking st. - Step 4
- Next Row:
K1, * K2tog, K1, rep from * to end ... 29 (33-35-37) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st. - Step 5
- Next Row:
K1, * K2tog, rep from * to end ... 15 (17- 18-19) sts.
Cut off yarn, run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely. - Step 6
- To make up:
Join seam.
Allow edge to roll onto wrong side.
