Quilter’s wall hanging

Final Result
Materials
• 50cm cream homespun for embroidery squares
• 50cm maroon spot or fabric of choice for top & binding
• 1m matching fabric for sashing & borders
• 60cm fleecy for backing
• matching cotton thread
• 4 x 25mm buttons
• quilt basting spray
• embroidery machine
• embroidery threads
• design disk ‘Sewing Room Commandments’
• 4” embroidery hoop
• rotary cutter, mat and quilters rulers
• quilting pins, tape measure
• scissors, seam ripper
• hand needle
• sewing machine with ¼” foot and walking foot
Step 1
Embroider your ten commandments and your heading first.
Step 2
Cut the embroidered commandments and heading into 6½” squares. Set heading aside.
Step 3
Cut a 2½” strip from the matching fabric, crosscut into 6½” x 2½” sashing and use to join embroidered squares together in pairs, you will have 5 sets.
Step 4
Cut 2 x 2½” strips, crosscut into 14½” lengths and use to join the above sets.
Step 5
Add a 2½” strip to the top and a 4½” strip to the bottom.
Step 6
Cut 2 x 4½” wide strips by the length of the quilt and join one to each side.
Step 7
Cut two 6½” x 7½” strips of maroon spot fabric.
Step 8
Join one to each side of the heading.
Step 9
Join this piece to the top of the quilt. Press your quilt
Step 10
Spray the backing with basting spray and lay your front on top. Smooth to remove any wrinkles.
Note
All fabrics should be 100% cotton, washed & pressed. ¼” seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated. Read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.
