‘quilty’ card for Mum
By Spotlight
- This technique is based on the stack & slash method of creating blocks for a quilt but, instead of using fabric, we’ve used paper.
- Final Result

- Materials
- • green weave cardstock
• pink weave cardstock
• Grant’s assorted paperpack - fleur
• small rickrack - white
• scrap paper
• pencil
• ruler
• glue stick
• paper cutter or scissors
• sewing machine (optional)
• white thread
• double-sided tape - Step 1
- Cut the green weave cardstock 15cm x 30cm then fold in half to form the card. Cut the pink weave cardstock 14cm x 14cm. Select 11 different patterned papers from the Grants pack then cut a 13.5cm x 13.5cm square from each. Cut a piece of scrap paper 13.5cm x 13.5cm.
- Step 2
- Create a template on the scrap paper square with the pencil and ruler or follow the template provided. Cut each of the 11 squares exactly the same according to the template then number all the pieces on the back. Roughly rebuild the template pieces to use as a guide for assembling the patterned pieces.

- Step 3
- Arrange the patterned paper pieces in groups on the work surface then begin placing them on to the pink weave square making sure each piece is from a different paper. Swap patterns around until a pleasing look is achieved then glue in place. Using double sided tape stick or sew rickrack along the joins or simply stitch with decorative stitches. Attach the patched block to the front of the green card.

- Handy Hint
- Save the remaining pieces and the template to make more cards in the future.
