- 1m Textmas fabric – brown
2.5m x 22mm grosgrain ribbon
Matching Gutermann 100% cotton thread
Paper for pattern
Pencil
Scissors
Pins, tape measure
Sewing machine
Iron - Step 1
- Draw pattern following diagram. Cut out apron as per pattern. Optional – cut a 40cm x 30cm rectangle for the pocket.

- Step 2
- Press under 1cm along both armhole curves on apron panel, then another 1cm. Pin and stitch. To hem bottom of apron panel turn under 1cm and press, turn under another 1cm, press, then pin and sew.
- Step 3
- Press top of apron panel under 1cm, then another 2cm. For neck strap, cut a 68cm length of grosgrain ribbon and slip one end under pressed hem of top of apron on the left side. Fold back up, pin in place.
- Step 4
- Loop strap around to the right-hand side, slip under pressed hem. Pin in place. Topstitch to secure hem and straps in place.
- Step 5
- To create side straps, cut two 90cm lengths of grosgrain ribbon. Press sides of apron panel under 1cm then another 1cm. Slip one end of one strap under pressed hem left side at the top. Fold back, pin in place. Repeat for right side. Topstitch both sides in place securing hem and straps. Hem ends of waist straps by folding under 1cm then another 1cm, topstitch to secure.
- Step 6
- Optional pocket – Press the top edge (40cm side) of the pocket under 1cm then a further 1cm. Topstitch hem. Press both sides and bottom edge of pocket under 1cm. Pin pocket to front of apron in the middle, 40cm from top edge. Topstitch side and bottom of pocket to apron panel. To create dividers in pocket, topstitch a line down centre of pocket.
