Mystery Quilt: WEEK ONE

Welcome to the first week of the Mystery Quilt.
We are starting out easy with WEEK ONE: Knit & Purl.

Materials

The Quilt is made using Moda Vera Marvel 8ply (100g balls).

Step 1

SQUARE ONE - PLAIN MOSS
Easy Knitting

You will need a pair of 4.00mm knitting needles and 1 ball of - C1 - 1038 (duck egg).

Using 4.00mm needles and C1, cast on 45 sts.
1st row - * K1, P1, rep from * to last st, K1.
Last row forms moss st.
Work a further 79 rows moss st (80 rows in all).
Cast off loosely in moss st.

Your square should measure approximately 21cm x 21cm if your tension is correct.
You may need to adjust your needle size to achieve the stated measurement.
If square is smaller than stated try again using 4.50mm needles, and if square is larger than stated try again using 3.75mm needles.

Step 2

SQUARE TWO - PLAIN MOSS
Easy Knitting

You will need a pair of 4.00mm knitting needles and 1 ball of - C2 - 1005 (fawn).

Work as given for Square 1, using C2 throughout.

Step 3

SQUARE THREE - PLAIN MOSS
Easy Knitting

You will need a pair of 4.00mm knitting needles and 1 ball of - C3 - 1022 (light grey marle).

Work as given for Square 1, using C3 throughout.

Step 4

SQUARE FOUR - STRIPED MOSS
Easy Knitting

You will need a pair of 4.00mm knitting needles and 1 ball each of -
C1 - 1038 (duck egg).
C4 - 1006 (denim).
C5 - 1024 (blue).

Using 4.00mm needles and C1, cast on 45 sts.

1st row - * K1, P1, rep from * to last st, K1.
Last row forms moss st.
Work a further 7 rows (8 rows in all).

Beg Stripe Patt -
Using C4, work 8 rows.
Using C5, work 8 rows.
Using C1, work 8 rows.
Rep last 24 rows twice (80 rows moss st worked in all).
Cast off loosely in moss st.

Your square should measure approximately 21cm x 21cm if your tension is correct.
You may need to adjust your needle size to achieve the stated measurement.
If square is smaller than stated try again using 4.50mm needles, and if square is larger than stated try again using 3.75mm needles.

Step 5

SQUARE FIVE - STRIPED MOSS
Easy Knitting

You will need a pair of 4.00mm knitting needles and 1 ball each of -
C2 - 1005 (fawn).
C6 - 1026 (dark red).
C7 - 1021 (brown marle).

Work as given for Square 4, using C2 in place of C1, C6 in place of C4 and C7 in place of C5.

Step 6

SQUARE SIX - STRIPED MOSS
Easy Knitting

You will need a pair of 4.00mm knitting needles and 1 ball each of -
C3 - 1022 (light grey marle).
C8 - 1023 (dark grey marle).
C9 - 1001 (white).

Work as given for Square 4, using C3 in place of C1, C8 in place of C4 and C9 in place of C5.
